The old warehouse that became the origin of the Gelanggang Kreasi stage
Our Beginning

A Tobacco Warehouse Turned Stage

The building used to be where village kids played marbles when it rained. In 2018, five people with campus theater backgrounds rented it for rehearsals — and have never moved out since.

The name "Gelanggang" was chosen for a reason: from the start, this place was designed as an open arena where anyone may try a role, not just watch from a seat.

Today Gelanggang Kreasi produces theater, workshops, corporate entertainment, and art installations — with the same core team since day one.

Our Journey

Eight Years in a Few Lines

2018

First Rehearsal at the Prawirotaman Warehouse

The five founders began regular rehearsals, with no legal entity yet and no permanent stage name.

2020

Online Productions While the City Was Quiet

When theaters closed, we moved to audio-drama and online workshops for schools.

2022

Debut Show in Our Own Warehouse

The warehouse was modestly renovated into a permanent 80-seat stage, opened to the public for the first time.

2024

Expanding into Corporate Entertainment

Requests for creative team building from local companies led to the birth of our corporate entertainment division.

2026

First Interactive Art Installation

A collaboration with a light artist produced an interactive installation that now tours city festivals.
